Project Proposal

For my project I will investigate the colour, texture and shape observed at Brecon Beacons in Wales. I’m inspired by nature because it’s beautiful. I started my interest in nature from doing drawings in my boyfriends back garden. This spot because it’s convenient, safe and secluded. I go to this spot because I know it well and it feels like home.

My specialist pathway is fine art. I intend to approach the problem by using expressive techniques and experimenting with different materials. I will begin by making a variety of studies directly in the landscape. The landscapes I started off doing was out in my boyfriends back garden, I was visiting it 4-5 times a week doing studies of the same place, then I went on holiday to the Brecon Beacons.

The deadline of my project is on the 27th of May. The profile of the audience will be people that are interested in landscapes painting. My work is full of colour and lots of texture. This may interest people that like to visit landscapes like the Brecon Beacons. My work will be displayed in college for people to see and my work will also be online, it’ll be on WIX.

I will use my primary research to support my ideas by doing life drawings of landscapes to help me get a better understanding how I could produce better skills in drawing landscapes and practice my drawing skills. My primary research will inform my progress with drawing and quick sketches. My primary research will help me to develop my ideas by doing drawings of landscapes in different mediums such as paint, pencil, oil pastel etc….  and different techniques and styles, this will help me get a better understanding in what style I want to do it in and which medium I feel better doing. Also, by using videos I can listen to the audio to get into the element of being outside and painting what I hear and painting the motion of the wind. Using photos to back up what I have drawn.

Using Anselm Kiefer, George Rowlett, Joan Eardley work to help me support my work helps to learn how they painted their work, researching what techniques they used in their work and lets me see what style. Using their work will help me to inform my work by comparing my work with theirs to see what techniques I need to do and giving myself a better understanding on practising their mark making. It also helps to inform my work by linking it al together with the artist I’m going to pick.

Another secondary research method I have used is books. The book was bases on expressionism and mark making, this helped me to practice more with the mark making and using the tight tools to create the work, then put techniques into my work to experiment with paint, using lots of marks and line work. My theme is landscapes, my understanding of this theme is that there are loads of marks, lines in landscapes and colour that are in landscapes. I have considered sustainability in my work to raise awareness of the beauty of nature and that global warming is destructing our world. The Brecon Beacons in Wales is such a beautiful place with lots of nature and natural mother nature made landscapes. I also have considered ethics in my work by making sure that I don’t litter stuff on the floor and show what landscapes should look like than touched by man.

The purpose and aim of my work is to raise awareness of global warming and what landscapes should look like before its touched by mankind, this is important because the beauty of nature is dying and we need to stop it before its to late by reducing litter and keeping out world green. I have generated initial ideas by doing something I’m most passionate about, landscapes are my speciality and I love painting them and enhancing the beauty so that it can be seen more into the eye of the audience. My intent is to explore paint and mark making, I will explore this by doing different techniques and using different tools to create different texture and marks. The techniques that ill be exploring will be all with mark making and the process is done with scrapers, sponges, brushes and cardboard.

With recording my reflective process, I will do some comments underneath my with I have uploaded to WIX saying what I’ve done will and what I could do better. I am also doing a track list each week on what I’ll be doing and what I have done, to put towards research and reflective practice.
