evaluation

I did quite a bit of research on my project to help me understand what I need to do and to give me ideas to work with, also searching for the artist was useful so I can understand and find out how the artist produced his work. I would like to say that I have produced practical responses, but I think I could have done more to support my project more. It would have also made my work stronger with the response to his work and shown my use of materials as well. Searching the artist’s work developed my ideas by looking into what he used to produce his work. This made me think of different ways but similar to theirs that I can use. The photoshoots that I did made me have different ideas as of taking the photographs in different angles and perspectives. The photoshoot also helped me develop my project as of the bottle painting, this helped me develop my fine art skills and observational perspective drawing. Doing this project helped me to test out different materials on the painting of the bottle, I used ripped up pages from an old book and ripped up the carboard for the background of the panting, I also used tea to stain the background to give it an old look. As my project was developing, I was reviewing to see if I can make any changes to see if I can make it better and stronger with the use of materials.

Content, aim, content:

I think that my work has a clear link to the theme “treasures or trash” as I did a photoshoot with WW1 bottles at the start of the project, and I wanted to develop that more and as it is based of what I found a book that had war photos in it so I ripped that up and put it on my developed last piece of work. I’d like to think that I responded to the theme in a personal way as I chose to develop my photoshoot with artwork rather than keeping it as photography, I chose to do the art so that I can show my skills I am mixing colours and use of tone, also my work throughout the project was photography and mainly drawing. Throughout the developed piece, I think I have explained clearly what I have done in response to the artist. My work dose communicates with my ideas that I intended to as I love fine art and photography.

With the quality of me work I would say I’m pleased, apart from not having enough time to finish some work off. I think that it could be improved by keeping track of my time and not spending a lot of time on one part of it. Thew most successful part of my work was the use of materials and making the bottle painting more interesting by ripping the cardboard. If I did this piece of work again, I would have done it differently by adding more bottles onto the cardboard and did then in different materials. I would say that the bottle did not go as expected as of the colour mixing and trying to get the right greens and the highlights. My work is dynamic because of the rips I mad and using the tea to stain the cardboard. I have used my materials creatively as making it look like old paper with the tea and using the old book pages to add more busyness on the work and making adding them it makes the bottle look or giving that intension of old looking.

I don’t think that I would have hanged anything or added anything apart from more bottles and changed the way I was mixing the colours. My work is clearly presented in my PowerPoint portfolio. I would like to say that I have developed as am artist because where I was last years I wasn’t that good with painting or confident with making mistakes then working into that mistake, also I have developed my colour mixing skills well and using different mediums. My personal goals as a partitioner is to be better at fine and abstract art and photography, also to be better at using different materials and be more confident to be making mistakes in my work and to be able to work into it. I would say this project has helped me to get closer and closer to my goals as I have progressed in the painting and my photography, and a little bit better and colour mixing as well.
