project proposal

This year I have really enjoyed developing my photography skills. I think the photography was my favourite because I enjoyed taking Macro photos of green recycled old wine bottles bottle and using my observational skills using charcoal and ink again responding the interesting bottles from Wessex.

Things that did not go as planned were using wire, I felt that the experimental piece was ineffective because of the lack of detail. Its not really my type of work but it turned out ok.

I have learned to look closely at my work as I do it and this helps me to improve my use of materials and techniques. It also helped me to improve to make more work and make it more detailed so spend more time on it.

One example of how I improved is in my photography when I used new techniques such composition and viewpoints is that seeing it from different perspectives and assessing what I’m taking photos off and finding the best angles.

Also, some of my art skills have improved, these are printmaking where I have learnt how to take care and print accurately including mixing interesting colours.

I could make my work even better by preparing for the next lesson by checking my teams, emails and updating my PowerPoint.

I researched the client Wessex Archaeology & discovered that it is a history centre.

Some things I have learned when doing this work are an educational type of charity who research, and possessions od archaeological items from hundreds of years ago.

It was useful to do this because I found some interesting information and cool artifacts. This gave me some ideas on what type of objects to get for the project.

Ideas I have had that were inspired by this research are doing the photography.

Primary research (real life objects) completed in my portfolio includes mixed media, observational drawings, photoshoot of WW1 bottles and normal bottles and some still life paintings of the objects.

Real life objects I chose to record for my work include bottles and mirrors.

I recorded them by doing a photoshoot with low key lighting and affine art painting of a bottle with teared up pages of an old book.

I chose them because I love doing photography and I love painting, another reason why I chose to record my project like this was because I could develop my skills in photography and fine art painting.

Secondary research completed in my portfolio includes artist research of the artists I got ideas from and mood boards.

Artists and designers I have used to explore and extend my ideas are Jim Dingilian’s, Jim Dine, Juan de Villalba, Jan Svoboda, Alexander Calder, Wan Liya and Picasso

Some ideas I’ve had looking at Jim Dingilian’s work inspired me look into the beauty of trash and make it a piece if unique art.

I improved my work by looking back at my work and looking at my reflective comments on each piece of work.

Some things I learned by looking back at my work is that I see that I needed to spend more time on my work, and I have learnt to mix up my medias to create better work.

I will be developing two creative solutions for the Trash & Treasures unit, one in response the Wessex Artifacts and one in response to my investigations into Trash & Treasures.

For my creative solution in response the Wessex Artifacts, I have chosen to develop my fine art and my photography.

WWW. What Went Well about this was the use of materials and techniques. This was a good little project to do as of I have leant new things as I did more work.

EBI: Even Better If is that if I have more time to do the work and do more development work. This would have helped me produce more work and to make my FMP stronger.
